  • Product details
  • Model: SBW Series

    Features:

    1. Miniaturized transmitter module, can be installed in the junction box of thermocouple or RTD to form an integrated temperature transmitter.

    2. Directly outputs 4~20mA signal at industrial site, saves expensive compensation wires and improves anti-interference ability during long-distance signal transmission.

    3. High accuracy, low power consumption, wide operating ambient temperature range, stable and reliable operation. Silicone rubber sealed structure, vibration-resistant and moisture-resistant, suitable for harsh field environments.

    4. With linearization correction function; thermocouple type has automatic cold junction temperature compensation function.

    5. Wide application: can form integrated on-site installation structure with thermocouple/RTD, or be installed in testing equipment as a functional module.

Principle and Applications: SBW series temperature transmitter is a field-mounted temperature transmission unit integrating thermocouple/RTD and transmitter. It directly measures the temperature of liquid, steam and gas media within -200℃ ~ 1600℃ in industrial processes, converts temperature into 4-20mA unified output signal proportional to the sensor electrical signal, and sends it to display, regulating instruments or computers. It is widely used in metallurgy, petroleum, chemical industry, electric power, light industry, textile, food, national defense, scientific research and other industries.

Structure Composition: Composed of thermocouple/RTD and transmitter module.

    • Thermocouple/RTD includes sensing element, protection tube, junction box; the junction box and protection tube are universal for both types.

    • Sensing element: armored thermocouple for thermocouple type, armored platinum RTD for RTD type.

    • Protection Tube: Made of two grades of stainless steel, with high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal shock resistance, good air tightness and sufficient mechanical strength.

    • Junction Box: Aluminum alloy waterproof type, IP65 ingress protection rating.

    • Transmitter Module: Composed of housing, cover, circuit board, wiring terminals, etc. Electronic components are sealed in the housing by silicone rubber pouring, non-detachable.

Q

What is a thermocouple?

A

Thermocouples: The Champion in High-Temperature Applications
Thermocouples are the preferred solution for extreme temperature applications. They consist of two dissimilar metal wires joined at the measuring end, generating a voltage proportional to the temperature difference.
Working Principle: When two different metals are connected, the thermoelectric effect produces a voltage at the junction. This voltage increases with rising temperature, allowing measurement via reference tables.
Key Advantages:
• Temperature Range: -270°C to 2300°C (depending on type)
• Fast Response Time (typically 0.1–10 seconds)
• Robust Construction, vibration-resistant
• Relatively Low Cost
• No External Power Required

Q

What is the difference between RTD and thermocouple?

A

Principles
• RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector): Based on the principle that a metal conductor's resistance increases with temperature, it converts resistance measurements into temperature readings.
• Thermocouple: Operates on the Seebeck effect, where two dissimilar metals in contact generate a thermoelectric voltage proportional to temperature differences.
Features
• RTD: High accuracy, stable signal, excellent linearity, ideal for low to medium temperatures.
• Thermocouple: Simple structure, fast response, high-temperature resistance, wide measurement range.
Pros & Cons
• RTD Pros: High precision, strong anti-interference, reliable low-temperature performance.
Cons: Limited upper temperature range, bulkier size, slightly slower response.
• Thermocouple Pros: Broad temperature range, high-temperature tolerance, rapid response, suitable for moving/surface measurements.
Cons: Lower accuracy at low temperatures, requires cold junction compensation, weaker signal prone to interference.
